BEEP is the National Urban League’s oldest signature
program. Established in 1969 through a grant from the Ford
Foundation, BEEP was developed out of the need to expose black
college students to role models in business and government,
and enhance the curricula at Historically Black Colleges and
Universities (HBCUs) by relating them more closely to the
world of work. The program has grown exponentially over the
years reaching over 750,000 students since its inception.
What We Do:
BEEP supports HBCUs by providing business faculty with
contacts, structured workshops, and counsel that help to
enrich the campus curriculum. Additionally, the schools
benefit from interaction with the business community, its
managers, career opportunities and in-kind resources.
The Black Executive Exchange Program is presented in
several different formats to provide a variety of ways to
engage students in career exploration and planning. They range
from two-day seminars to semester-long courses for credit.
